Our Payroll Service

If you employ your own personal assistant you may have to account for tax and national insurance on your employees wages. You will be required to give your employee a record of the payments you make to them and the deductions from those payments.

Compass Independent Living operates a payroll service, for users of our service we provide the following:

  • A payroll run on a weekly, fortnightly, four weekly or monthly basis
  • Hours can be notified to us each time either by phone, email,  posting timesheet or sending them by fax
  • Automatically produce payslips if your personal assistants always work the same hours (subject to agreement of Local Authority)
  • A summary of the payments you need to make to the tax office
  • Clear instructions on what forms you need from new employees
  • Preparation of P45s when employees leave
  • Advice on payroll related issues, such as holiday pay
  • Assist with auto-enrollment in line with the pensions regulation, including enrolling on a pensions scheme and making deductions from pay. For more information please also see http://www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/.

We have created a helpful toolkit for our payroll user, please click here to access it.

Contract of Employment

As from the 1st April 2020, a Contract of Employment must be issued to new employees on their first day of employment. Please see below for a template Contract of Employment:

Contract of Employment

The employer will need to add the following details:

Employers name and address

Employees name and start date

Place of work

Expected working hours

Hourly rate of pay

Both the employer and employee must sign and date the contract and we would advise both parties to hold a copy of the contract for their records.
