For customers in receipt of a Direct Payment from Birmingham Children's Trust

Birmingham Children's Trust have made it a mandatory requirement that all new employees must have a DBS check completed before starting employment. If you are employing a new employee, please contact us so that we can arrange for a DBS check to be completed.

Contract of Employment

As from the 1st April 2020, a Contract of Employment must be issued to new employees on their first day of employment. Please see below for a template Contract of Employment:

Contract of Employment

The employer will need to add the following details:

Employers name and address

Employees name and start date

Place of work

Expected working hours

Hourly rate of pay

Both the employer and employee must sign and date the contract and we would advise both parties to hold a copy of the contract for their records.

ACAS:

Having correct draft letters, forms and checklists can save you time, and help you manage information quickly and easily, in running your business. These free samples from ACAS are organised into the three sections to help with:

Hiring staff
Managing staff
Disciplining staff

The key documents include job descriptions, staff appraisals and some of the different methods, and letters in handling discipline when an employee has broken important company rules.

They can all be downloaded by clicking on the document title.

If, after looking at these templates, you feel you need additional help on recruitment, managing staff or handling discipline, ACAS has other free guidance.

Here is a useful link from ACAS "Paying staff for small business'".

Try the ACAS Helpline on 0845 747 4747 or visit the ACAS publications website for a range of booklets on these subjects which you can download.

The  interactive version enables you to search and immediately access the information you are most interested in. It contains links to different sections within the toolkit and the useful templates. There are also links to organisations you can access for more support and information and you can still download the individual booklets and templates.
